A New Chapter for B2B Battery Trading

Circunomics started as a B2B battery marketplace built on trust, and that meant starting with a closed one. Every seller onboarded, every buyer verified, every listing checked before it went live. That foundation is still there today, and it's exactly what let us take this next step with confidence.

Now we have more listings, more active buyers and sellers, and a proven track record.  

So we're opening the marketplace for anyone to browse. No account, no form. Real listings for first-life and second-life battery packs, modules and cells, visible to whoever wants to look.

It's a big step for us, and we think it's a good one for the market too. New battery prices have been falling for years. Lithium-ion pack prices dropped to $108/kWh in 2025, 93% lower than in 2010, according to BloombergNEF. 

Even though raw material costs rose in 2025, battery pack prices continued to fall.  That makes 2026 less predictable than the last ten years, but prices are still heading down overall. Because of this trend, buying surplus, first-life and second-life batteries is becoming more attractive. It's no longer only a sustainability choice.

At the same time, the EU Battery Regulation is making the industry more traceable and transparent. Growth like that needs infrastructure that can support it. That's what we've spent the last while building, and opening the marketplace to browsing is the next visible piece of it.

• Anyone can now browse live battery listings on the Circunomics Marketplace, both first-life and second-life. No account needed.

• Open to everyone: chemistry, capacity, format, quantity, location, State of Health, condition data, packaging, Incoterms and document names.

• Still protected: pricing, full documents and seller identity. Making an inquiry or adding to a watchlist requires sign-up.

• Sellers don't need to do anything. Existing listings are eligible for public display automatically.

• Verification and listing standards haven't changed. Trading volume has already reached nearly 800 MWh in 2026 alone.

What's Open, and What Stays Protected

Opening the marketplace doesn't mean opening everything. The line we drew is simple.

• Open: the information you need to decide whether a listing is worth a closer look.

• Protected: pricing, seller details and our network of verified companies, the core of how Circunomics works.

That's the whole idea in one sentence. Verification answers two simple questions. Is this a real, trustworthy company? And can they complete a deal like this? Opening up browsing doesn't change that.  

It just means  decide whether an opportunity is relevant to them on their own, before they need an account to do it.

First-Life vs. Second-Life Batteries: What's the Difference?

You'll find both on the marketplace, so here's the short version.  

A first-life battery his still in or suited to its original purpose. It could be newly built to order, surplus battery stock, or a return or replacement battery.

A second-life battery has already served its first purpose, usually in a vehicle. It still has enough power left for a new, lighter job, such as stationary energy storage. Both come with the same technical details, so you can compare them side by side.

What Can You See Without Signing Up?

Open any listing to see all the technical and practical details, for both first-life and second-life packs and modules:

• Chemistry, capacity, format, quantity, location

• State of Health (SoH) and condition data. SoH shows how much of its original capacity a battery still has, usually as a percentage. one of the main indicators of whether a used pack suits your needs

• Packaging details and Incoterms

• A list of available documents, including inspection reports. Full documents are available once you sign up

Browse All Listings and use filters like battery type, chemistry and location to find what fits.  

The Request for Batteries page shows what buyers are looking for. Both sides of the marketplace are visible to both sides now.

That's enough to answer the first question every buyer has: is this even relevant to me?

What Requires an Account?

Sign-up comes into play the moment you want to act:

• Pricing is shown as “Sign up to unlock pricing” until you register as a buyer.

• Registered buyers can view document names. Sign up as a buyer to open the files.

• Selecting Make an Inquiry prompts buyers to sign up. Selecting Add to Watchlist prompts both buyers and sellers to sign up.

Sellers' pricing and identity stay inside our verified network. Getting from "I want to act" to a registered account starts with one click.

Built for Both Sides of the Market

For buyers

Want to buy second-life batteries or source first-life packs and modules? This is the place to start. It covers stationary energy storage, electric forklifts, off-road vehicles, vans, trucks and e-bikes. It also works for remanufacturing, repair, mobility and other specialist uses.

A few things get easier:

• Scoping. See whether the marketplace fits your chemistry, region and volume in minutes.

• Getting your team aligned. Just send a listing link to your tech lead, project manager or finance team. They see exactly what you saw, no account required on their end.

• Starting conversations with more context. By the time you register and reach out, you already have a specific listing in mind, and so does the seller.

For sellers

More visibility, while seller identity and pricing stay within the verified network.

If you sell used EV batteries, surplus battery stock, returns or replacement stock, your listings can now go public on their own. Nothing to re-upload, nothing to reconfigure.

What changes is reach. Listings used to sit behind a login.  

Now buyers can find them through search, and you can share them with anyone, no account needed. More potential buyers see it. Pricing and identity stay exactly as protected as they've always been.

Same listing process. More visibility. Better odds of finding the right buyer.

One More Thing: A New Source of Supply

We've also added a new type of listing: battery packs and modules taken from dismantled vehicles. It's another supply source now available on the marketplace, and one we'll go into more detail on soon.

Why It Matters Beyond the Feature

This move reflects where the battery trading market is heading, not just a product update on our end.

The market is changing. Closed networks built on personal contacts are giving way to open platforms the whole industry can use. That only works if the platform underneath has already earned enough trust to open up without loosening its standards.

That's exactly the logic behind this update, just applied to trading instead of compliance. The data and track record are there. Showing more of it, to more people, is a natural next step.

We traded roughly 0.5 GWh through the marketplace by the end of 2025. In 2026 alone, trading volume has already reached nearly 1 GWh.

Verification, listing quality, and everything that protects buyers and sellers hasn't changed. What's new is that anyone can now find real battery listings through search, not just behind a login.

Why is pricing only visible after registration?

Pricing and seller identity are part of the commercial layer that stays inside the verified Circunomics network. This protects sellers while still giving buyers enough information to decide whether a listing is relevant.

What's the difference between first-life and second-life batteries?

First-life batteries are still in or suited to their original purpose, such as surplus stock, returns or replacement stock. Second-life batteries have finished their first job, often in a vehicle. Now they power something new and less demanding, like stationary storage.

What does State of Health mean in a battery listing?

State of Health (SoH) shows how much of its original capacity a battery has left, usually as a percentage. It's one of the main indicators buyers use to judge whether a used battery fits their application.

I'm a seller. Do I need to do anything for my listings to appear publicly?

No. Your listings can now appear publicly on their own, whether they're used EV batteries, surplus battery stock or other packs. There's nothing to re-upload or change. Your pricing and identity stay protected.

Are buyers and sellers still verified?

Yes. Opening the marketplace hasn't changed how we check companies or listings. We still verify every company before it can trade.
