What is a Digital Battery Passport, in simple terms?
It’s like a digital ID card for every battery. It stores key facts about where and how a battery was made, how it’s been used, and what happens to it at the end of its life. You can think of it as a mix between a car’s VIN number, service book, and recycling certificate — all in one digital record.
How is the passport updated over time?
Each event — such as a repair, resale, or recycling — is automatically logged. That means the passport grows and stays accurate through the battery’s entire life, with a full trace of what happened and when.
Who needs a Battery Passport, and when?
From 18 February 2027, all EV and industrial batteries sold in the EU must have one. Other battery types will follow later. Circunomics helps you build and manage these passports automatically, so you’re ready before the deadline.
What kind of information does it include?
